facebook login???????

ok so everytime i try logging into facebook it says “account temporarily unavalible” and like stuff about site maintenance…. it says try back in a few hours. but this has been happening since friday night i couldnt login at all yesterday and now this morning it says the same thing

is there anything i can do to fix this?
is it normal?

forum signature not giving all backlinks?

I have been doing some forum postings with 4 individual keywords in the signature of my posts. 2 linking to my homepage and 2 linking to another more relevant part of the site for those keywords.

How to begin creating a website for my illustration work?

I’m a 19yr old illustration student and have so far completed a few jobs, illustrated a few books etc. and am wanting to create a proper official website for the promotion of my work with an online portfolio.

I already have a youtube, deviantart and a freewebs site, but now want to build my own with a proper domain name and hosting.

Help with starting a portfolio website please?

Hi, I am completely new to the process of making a portfolio website and was wondering if anyone could give me some tips.

What would you suggest to get started, what do you consider the most important aspects of a advertising/design portfolio, any tips on who to use for hosting and domain registering that you have worked with and it has worked well for you?

I think I have some ideas for the domain name and I checked to see it they were taken already and found one that is not currently in use. I’d love any suggestions for a domain name you’d like to share though.

For some background, this site is for a portfolio to get into an undergrad advertising program at FSU. It will have mostly graphic design, 2d/3d animation examples, tutorials, and whatever else I can come up with to add. I’ve seen some of their students final portfolios and normally they include these in one way or another: a 15-30 second video advertisement, about 10-15 print advertisements, and a written form of their work(a powerpoint, a written paper for an advertising promotion, something like that the reader can download). Although, those were for their graduates, not the applicants, so I really do not think they are looking for advertisements since that is what they are teaching in the program. My guess it they are looking more for “potential” to create those things in a portfolio. The program is extremely competitive though so any tips you could offer that could make it a little better would be really appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!

I have a website advertising my ‘artwork’. But when I search for it in google or yahoo it never shows up. I type in very specific search requests and as few as five results show up, none of which are linked to the actual site only myspace pages where I have friends. If I were to search for less descriptive words there would be no reference to my site at all. What can I do to make my site appear in search results, preferably as high as possible, of course, but appearing at all would be a significant improvement. Facebook fan page – giving fans a freebie for inviting friends.?

Hi, I am looking for a Facebook application / FBML script which would give me this functionality. I would like to promote my business Facebook fan page by making it viral. Basically, here’s the way I see it working:

- A person visits the fan page and is taken to the “Welcome” tab, which explains about the product and lists rules of a giveaway.
- The visitor has to click on the “Like” button first.
- As soon as the visitor becomes a fan, it will display the visitor’s friends and let them select multiple ones to invite them to become fans of the page.
- If the visitor sends at least 5 (or whatever number I choose) invites to his /her friends it will display a form to enter name / email address (or maybe a mailing address) to receive a gift certificate or a freebie.
I know it’s possible because I’ve seen it, I am just having a problem locating a ready-to-use script / application for this. I’ve searched http://www.appbistro.com and found a few similar apps but not quite what I need.
Do you know of such an application?

@Moonlight: I just re-read Facebook‘s Terms of Service. There’s nothing there that states that you may not ask people to invite their friends to become your page fans in order to receive a freebie. It DOES says though that you have to obtain a written permission from Facebook in order to run a promotion or a giveaway… interesting.

Hi, just trying out a new site here and have run into some CSS issues. I’ve got YARPP running with TimThumb and a custom YARPP template, but I can’t seem to get all 6 thumbs to display in a neat block – if the first or second thumb has a title that is two lines or more it knocks the second line out, but if it’s the third one it doesn’t seem to be a problem…

I have a Distribution company. I have a general website with each company and their titles listed on it. However I want to start promoting individual studios and using the traffic generated to try to generate revenues sending them to sites like vod.com. What is the better method for generating large amount of traffic and getting higher rankings in search engines. Should I make one large site with links between studios or should I have each studio with its own website with links between sites. This would result in a lot more incoming and outgoing links for each site but each site would be smaller than the one large one.

Tank set up help-Goldfish?

My kids have 2 goldfish, a Moor and a Comet. They are in a 5 gallon tank, and have been for awhile. We are getting a 20 gallon tank. I need some help setting it up, and advice if I’m doing anything wrong. For maintenance I do a 20% water change weekly. Every month, I remove all the water except for 20%. We have a filter but no heater since they like cool water. They are fed every other day because the Comet has problems if he overeats. So when I get the new, bigger tank, do I need to do anything different? How do I prepare the water for the new tank? I’m confused about cycling. Is that what I need to do? Or do I transfer this 5 gallon water to the new tank, then add fresh, conditioned water? What about adding more goldfish? Do I need to keep them excluded from the existing fish until they’re proven healthy? Thanks for any advice you can provide.
Wow, I had no idea! THe comet was a carnival prize (surprise, huh?) and we’ve had him well over a year. The pet store recommended the Moor. Geez, I hate when I receive bad advice there. These are my childrens’ pets and they are attached to them. So disappointing!
Guess I wasn’t clear, I do 20% changes weekly, and all but 20% (making that 80% is gone) monthly. Is this schedule okay? Is it okay for us to go with the plan of both fish in the 20 gallon tank until they outgrow it, or is that suffocating them?

Does the comet have to put with other comets? What about koi? I don’t know anyone with a pond, but I live near an apple orchard with a VERY LARGE pond, and I believe they’re koi. Is it absurd to think that I could put the comet in there? I realize it is a completely different environment. It seems pretty harsh to put a tank raised fish in with others raised in a pond, with the elements and all. But then again, this is all new to me

I think Comet may be going to the apple orchard soon. It will be hard on the kids but they will want what is best for him. How do I set up the Moor in his new 20 gallon tank? I did check out the recommended Youtube video. What are the bubbles? Is that some type of oxygen being delivered? Do I need that?

A lizard may scare some kids and im shure as heck not getting a snake i think a fish is okay, But its still kind of boring. ive got a 5 gallon tank for the fishie. and i have a filter light and a air pump (although i heard they dont need an airpump) But i still would like to get two pets ( just to make some space in the large class room) im going to teach the kids all by my self for 3 weeks and i really want to pass my test. And ive decided a classroom pet would be a good start on our animal unit. (they learn about varius animals and what makes them special). Well i really would like to find a different pet other than a gold fish sorry for my spelling!

Is it ok to change the goldfish tank water completely?

Or do I need to only do 1/2 or so at a time?

I can’t seem to keep the thing relatively clean all of a sudden. We have a 10 gallon tank, 2 adult gold fish (not huge) and 3 smaller ones. We have a filter system going and a small amount of rocks on the bottom, and we have an algae problem. I have changed the water – 2 days ago- about 1/2 of the water – to almost 3/4′s, changed the charcoal filter, wiped the sides of the glass with a scaper and added the stop algae stuff. The darn thing looked just as bad when I was done as it did when I started. Bright green. I feel bad for the fish, but don’t know if I should take the fish out, put them in another bowl for a little bit and completely clean out the tank and change the rocks???

I need advice so the kids can see the fish again!

I just had the weirdest dream ever?

Sorry this is SO long but this dream somewhat scared and made me question things when I woke up…even if you could just skim through…

So I just woke up from having the weirdest dream and I am writing this down while it is still vivid in my head. I dreamt I was in my old school, I see kind of mass hysteria. There are too many people, this guys peeing on the floor. There is absolutely no order as I am making my way through as I look on this girl and her group of friends chat with me about that. All of a sudden everyone kind of leaves, for some reason I took off my flip flops and can’t find them. but I do shortly. As I exit out, I see a few familiar people who don’t go to that school. Also, I go through this church like setting where everyone’s laughing, chatting, relaxing kind of blasphemous. This lady follows me asking for change because she is the keeper of this place, everyone gives her. Except I refuse to and say a few smart things as I make my exit into the street I see one of my old best friend with this kid who she was friends with a goldfish [kind you get at a fair] in her hand. She tells me to look at it so I want one. We go down the street and theres tons of people I knew from my old school, so I arrive at this corner and everyone greets me, the only girl even gives me a kiss on the cheek. Now for some reason everyone has a goldfish…and this one kids trying to kill one so he lets it out of his bag and me and a few girls say no, but luckily there was a dirty puddle so we decide to put it there since it was better than nothing, there were also other goldfish in there. So we all go back to that corner as a choir would do…and start singing a song ? A peaceful one…except I couldnt hear myself sing so I decided to take the lower harmony and kind of hum along as I do, it all cuts away like a dream within a dream. So here I am in a somber setting, in a house. It seems outside is late afternoon and wet. I look around and I try to shut a door on the left but it seems neither of 2 locks would lock. I try to call my best friend up but this is twhat it says “We’re sorry Verizon has detected that the number you are trying to call has the message inbox full and the dial tone is dead. Please contact your weather advisory as there might be a pending storm…” So I am warned about a storm. My mom and her boyfriend arrive and I try to tell my mom about the dreams I’ve had…she replies with “are you sure you’re not seeing ghosts?” I look at her in amazement and reply “If I had seen a ghost, wouldn’t you think I would talk to you about it?” But for some reason I kind of just try to find cover in the house.

There were more details but I forgot, but I am certain this is the order of this dream. This certain dream was brought to my attention because for some reason it kind of relates to situations I am now, if that makes any sense. Also, I have been having issues lately and I don’t have a good feeling about it. Any interpretation would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long read!

i have 3 fancy goldfish which i have had for nearly 4 years now.
(back ground info- started off with 4 in a 5G tank when i was 15, a year later i did some research and discovered their tank was WAY too small! i managed to rehome one, a shubunkin, with my friend’s pond fish, an upgraded to a 10 G after a kind friend donated me her old tank- i have not much money. i bought a filter for a 20G tank for the 10G as i heard about the goldfishes heavy bioload. i have had adverts on preloved.com, ukclassifieds.co.uk, our village notice board and the local vets notice board since 2007 advertising goldfish free to a good home, yet most of the interest comes from parents thinking they can get a free pet for their kids 21litre pets at home starter goldfish kit, so far nobody has been able to offer me a space bigger than my 10G tank with double filtration. the fish have had no problems until a few months ago i bought a plant from a pet shop i’ve not used before, within days the plant had began to rot and my fish ended up with white spot! (on further investigation the shop owner sold me a plant from her hospital tank in the store, she is convinced white spot must be tranfered from host to host and cant live on a plant for more than a few hours. she eventually decided to give me my white spot reatment for free) the fish suffered badly and i considered euthanising them they were in such a bad state. the day i bought some clove oil however was the day they picked up. i persisted with their treatment and they healed well. this was a few months ago now and all seemed t be going fine, except one of my goldfish, ianto, got stuck at the top of the filter after i had cleaned the tank out. he was basically ‘beached’ like a whale and couldnt slide back into the water, i found him just in time when i got back from work and moved him into the water, he went straight to the bottom of the tank and i turned the light off so it would be less stressful for him to recover. he hasnt picked up since. he hasnt come up for food or moved for 4 days and now he’s started falling on his side, he doesnt seem to move one side (can fish have strokes) i know most of you will imediately shout swim bladder at me, but i have had goldies in the past with swim bladder and they have never acted like this (usually they shows signs of their struggle, ianto doesnt seem to even bother struggling, like he’s literally lying down and waiting to die.) also, his breathing.gill movement is slower than the other two, if thats of significance, is there anything i can do for him?
thank you jogi, i have indeed learnt my lesson, i dont think i have the courage to end ianto’s life tbh, im playing the waiting game now, lets just hope he can recover, or atleast die without pain, meanwhile im renewing my listings for the other two. (in case anyone is interested in rehoming 2 (possibly 3) fantail goldfish, i live in the chester area of cheshire and am willing to travel a certain distance within reason, you must have larger acomodation than i can give them, otherwise they would be better off with me.)

I’ve been a waitress for a while so I’m good with the whole bit about being cool with your “customers” (passengers) and serving.

I have a lot of questions!
1) Do you like your job? I heard the schedule is pretty crazy, but you wind up having a bunch of time off every month.

2) Do you really use the benefits the airline provides you with? Cheaper travelling, for example.

3) How’s the interview and what do they mainly ask?

4) (This may seem odd, but) What’s the age group you usually see? 25 or younger or like 30+. Are these older mothers I’ll be working with or young people that just graduated?

5) Do you often get sick because of the time zone changes (lack of sleep) and germs on the plane?

6) Personal-ish question: What degree did you pursue if you pursued one at all? I’m actually looking at graphic design, which has zilch to do with airlines, but I’m mainly looking at becoming a flight attendant if graphic design doesn’t work out for me because I’m planning on getting into advertisement, but if there isn’t a company out there or good paying jobs, I’m planning on turning to an airline (hopefully Air Canada, I’m Canadian) to hire me.

I’m young, I don’t have my own family–there’s nothing anchoring me down. The closest things I’d have as kids would be my goldfish, Mabel, or my cats. I like to travel (whether I’d be on the plane or using my benefits for cheaper travels).
